Bericht uit de Gymzaal no 2 – Oktober 2022

Dit is de tweede nieuwsbrief uit de Gymzaal.

De voorbereiding van de verbouwing loopt voorspoedig

In onze eerste nieuwsbrief (die kun je hier vinden) vertelden we je over de verbouwingsgroep die we hebben gevormd en hoe die Corine Keus als architect had geselecteerd. Inmiddels zijn er drie werksessies geweest en daar zijn een schetsontwerp, een elementenbegroting en een voorlopige planning uit voortgekomen. Wij in de verbouwingsgroep zijn erg blij met het ontwerp. Hieronder zie je het ontwerp dat we in onze bijeenkomst op 25 oktober hebben besproken.

We nodigen iedereen uit op 26 november om 13.30. Dan zal Corine het ontwerp toelichten en vertellen hoe het tot stand is gekomen. Tegen die tijd zal de planning verder aangescherpt zijn. Zoals het er nu naar uit ziet zal de verbouwing plaatsvinden van juni – september 2023. Dan is de Gymzaal helemaal dicht!

Nog dit jaar gaan een paar handige mensen het ‘glas’ (is een soort plastic) in de voorgevel vervangen door dubbel glas. Dan is het eerste stukje verduurzaming een feit.  Als de grote verbouwing klaar is zullen we nog veel meer handige mensen nodig hebben om deFonds 1818 heeft al jaren geleden een subsidie toegezegd om de verbouwing deels te financieren.  Daar zijn we heel dankbaar voor, maar het zal helaas niet genoeg zijn. We zullen daarom flink aan de bak moeten met fondsenwerving. Suggesties voor loketten waar we aan kunnen kloppen zijn altijd welkom.

Klankbordgroep in wording

Monika Klara, die al sinds jaar en dag betrokken is bij de Gymzaal en daar de Weggeefwinkel onder haar hoede heeft, is bezig met het vormen van een klankbordgroep van gebruikers van de Gymzaal. Met die groep gaan we uitzoeken hoe we van de Gymzaal een bruisende plek kunnen maken en hoe we de organisatie(vorm) het beste kunnen laten aansluiten bij waar we voor staan: van onderop bijdragen aan de voedseltransitie. Wat ons betreft betekent dat: transparantie en veel betrokkenheid van iedereen die de Gymzaal gebruikt.

Oproep: duurzame inspiratie markt

Op zaterdag 10 december willen we de Gymzaal omtoveren in een duurzame inspiratie markt.

Met welke duurzame ideeën of producten wil jij anderen inspireren? Meld je aan zodat we – aansluitend aan de verpakkingsvrije winkel van Lekkernassûh – een duurzaam feestje kunnen bouwen. Wij zorgen voor lekkere hapjes en drankjes.

Good progress in preparing the renovation

In our first newsletter (which you can find here) we told you about the renovation group we formed and how we selected Corine Keus as our architect. Since then we have had three meetings which have resulted in a preliminary design, budget and planning. The renovation group is very pleased with the result. Below is the design that we discussed on 25 October.

We invite anybody who is interested in the Gymzaal to join us on Saturday 26 november at 13.30. Corine will explain the design itself, the process that led to it and the choices we made. According to the current plans the renovation will be done between June and September  2023. The Gymzaal will be closed during that period.

Before the end of the year a few handy people will be replacing the windows in the front with double glazing. We hope to start saving a bit of energy this winter.  When the main renovation is done, we will need a lot more people to help with carpentry, painting etc. 

Fonds 1818, a local charity, has committed a substantial amount of money to support the renovation. We are extremely grateful to them, but it won’t be enough to do what needs to be done. We will need to do some serious fundraising. If you know of any potential sources (preferably gifts, but we may need loans as well), do let us know. 

Forming a sounding board

Monika Klara, who has been part of the community around the Gymzaal for a long time and who is responsible for the Weggeefwinkel (the corner with free clothes, books, toys etdc.), is currently forming a sounding board. Anybody who wants to be more actively involved with the Gymzaal or who actually uses it is invited to join this group. The sounding board group will figure out how to make the Gymzaal into a vibrant home for our community. It will also come up with ideas on how to ensure that the way we are organised is well aligned with what we stand for: contributing tot he (food)transition from the grassroots up. For us that means: transparency and a lot of involvement by the community.

Call for ideas: sustainable inspiration meet-up

On Saturday 10 December we want to turn the Gymzaal into a sustainable inspiration meet-up. 

With which sustainable products or ideas would you like to inspire others? Let us know, so that we can build a sustainability party right after the Lekkernassûh package-free shop. 

We will take care of the bites and drinks.
